WITCHES AND ANGELS
August 22-23 10-2pm
Using copper and brass screen, the student will form a figure – will she be a witch or an angel? It will all depend upon the clothing and accessories created. After the shape is created, we will use liquid enamels, decals and mica to adorn their outfits. This class is all using about alternative materials to form and shape a figure and using liquid enamel to cover those unique shapes.
No experience necessary.
GHOULISH CLOISONNE (INTRO TO CLOISONNE)
Oct 3 10am-3pm
Oct 4 10am-2pm
Start at the beginning and learn the fundamentals of cloisonné enameling. In this class, you’ll create an enamel blank on copper and select a design to use as a pattern for cutting, shaping, and placing cloisonné wires. Once the wires are in place, you’ll learn how to fill the resulting cells with enamel and build up the surface with color.
To finish, we’ll grind away any excess enamel to create a smooth, even surface. Add a jump ring, and your finished enamel will be ready to wear on a chain or piece of leather.
All artistic levels and abilities are welcome–no experience necessary!
(Please bring a mask because we will be sifting enamel and should not breathe it.)
SPOOKY SKETCHES IN ENAMEL
Oct 10 10am-2pm
Take your art in a new direction by using enamels as an artistic medium. Enamel is ground glass fused to metal to create a beautiful, luxurious finish. You’ll learn how to create an enamel blank and draw on it with graphite. You’ll sift enamel onto metal and fire it in a kiln to create an enamel blank, prepare the blank to receive graphite and then draw (trace) onto the blank with graphite (pencil). Halloween is the theme, but the possibilities are limitless.
All artistic levels and abilities are welcome–no experience necessary!
